Marble Murti for Temple Installation: Size, Platform, Transport & Planning Guide

Marble Shiv Parivar murti installed in a mandir with a carved backdrop

A murti for a temple, trust or society is a long-term project. A marble murti for a temple needs more planning than a home murti: size, pedestal, transport route and installation all matter. This guide gives a simple planning order that works for most projects.

Quick answer

For temples, plan the murti size, a pedestal that can bear the weight, safe transport and installation early. Marble suits permanent installations, while fiber is lighter for very large or outdoor murtis. Share your site details before the design is finalised.

Step 1: Decide the Deity and Size

Decide the deity, posture and height. Temple murtis are commonly 24, 30, 36 or 48 inches, and larger murtis are made on request. Viewing distance matters, so a larger hall suits a taller murti. Our size guide shows what each height looks like.

Step 2: Prepare a Strong Platform

Marble is heavy at large sizes. The pedestal, singhasan or platform must be level and strong enough to bear the weight. Ask for the packed and installed weight of your murti and have a mason or engineer check the base.

Step 3: Plan Transport and Access

Check the access route: road width, steps, doorways and lifting space at the site. Large marble murtis are shipped in strong packing, and heavy pieces may need a crane or additional manpower at the destination. Read about packing and shipping.

Step 4: Marble or Fiber?

Marble gives a traditional, permanent look. Fiber is much lighter and easier to transport at large sizes, and suits outdoor and event use. We make both. See our marble vs fiber guide.

Need help choosing?

Send your mandir size or a reference photo and we will suggest suitable designs.

Step 5: Painting, Shringar and Installation Date

Decide the finish early, whether white marble, painted or with gold work. Fix the installation date with your pandit and work backwards to leave time for production and delivery. For existing temple murtis, we also provide painting and shringar services in Delhi NCR.
